MPASS Education has recently made the strategic decision to broaden its scope by extending resources to individual teachers, schools, and districts concerning the evaluation of students’ proficiency in mathematical practices. The Common Core initiative aims to facilitate the shift towards a more practical application of mathematical skills in real-world scenarios. Having played a pivotal role in shaping the SBAC performance tasks, I have dedicated years to enhancing educators’ grasp of performance assessments through my involvement with SCALE and the BEAL (Building Educator Assessment Learning) project. Recognizing the limited access teachers and districts have to top-tier performance tasks, I am delighted to unveil MPASS Education’s commitment to crafting and providing performance tasks tailored to each grade level.
These assessment materials encompass eight on-demand or constructed response performance evaluations, with two of the eight assessments accompanied by instructional units to facilitate in-depth learning.
